About Bethune College Kolkata:
Bethune College is a women’s college located in Kolkata, India and affiliated to the University of Calcutta. It was established as a girls’ school in 1849, and as a college in 1879. It is the oldest women’s college in Asia. The college was founded as a secular Native Female School in 1849 by John Elliot Drinkwater Bethune. The Government took it over in 1856, renaming it Bethune School after its founder in 1862-63. In 1879 it was developed into Bethune College, the first Women’s college in India.

Educational Qualification:
For Honours Course: A minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
For General Course: A minimum of 40% marks in aggregate at the previous qualifying Exam.
For Major Course: A minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
However, Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe or OBC-A or OBC-B Community taking up Honours / General / Major Course of Study must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate at the previous qualifying examination, as the case may be.

Aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks of the BEST FOUR subjects ( at least 100 marks paper ).
