About Snehangshu Kanta Acharya Institute of Law Kalyani:
Snehangshu Kanta Acharya Institute of Law (popularly known as S.K.A.L.) is a premier college of legal education in Kalyani, West Bengal. This college is having its own campus on an area of seven acres of land within the campus of the University of Kalyani, adjacent to the University entrance gate. It was established in the year 2004. The college is affiliated to the University of Kalyani. This college is also approved by the Bar Council of India. It offers the Bachelor of Laws or BA LLB Degree Course with LLB Honours for five years integrated Degree programme as the Undergraduate Degree Programme in Law at the University of Kalyani. The present course is based on 10 semesters & approved by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education as well as Bar Council of India (BCI). The institute was established by Sikkim Bengal Education Trust in 2004 on the campus of Kalyani University. It is named after Snehangshu Kanta Acharya Bar-at-Law, the former Advocate General of the Govt. of WB, known for his contributions in the field of Law & Politics. The college was inaugurated on June 30 in 2004 by Mr. Jyoti Basu, Ex-Chief Minister of WB.

Educational Qualification:
A candidate for admission to the BA LLB (Honours) must have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or an equivalent examination securing in aggregate not less than 45% (General Category) or 40% (SC/ST&OBC Category) of the total marks. Those who will be passing their Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examinations this year can go through the selection process & seek provisional admission.
Age Limit & Relaxation:
Students should not have completed 20 years of age as on 1st July or as shall be prescribed by the Bar Council Of India for that academic session. In case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category, a relaxation of two years of age shall be admissible as per the Bar Council of India rules, 2008. In exceptional & deserving cases the upper age limit may be relaxed by the Administrative Head at Kolkata.
Reservation of Seats / Intake Seat Capacity for Snehangshu Kanta Acharya Institute of Law (SKAIL) Kalyani Part I Admission 2021:
The total number of seats available for BA LLB (Honours) Degree programme shall ordinarily be 120 divided into two sections. The number of seats available under Management quota shall not be more than 10% of the total available seats.

Selected candidates shall be required to present themselves for counselling at SKAIL campus, Kalyani on the date to be informed. The object of Counselling is to enable the faculty to assess & evaluate the candidate’s suitability for the programme. Course Fees for Kalyani Snehangshu Kanta Acharya Institute of Law (SKAIL) Kalyani Part 1 Admission 2021:
The fees for the BA LLB (Honours) Degree programme for each academic year shall be Rs. 30,000/- only i.e. Rs. 15,000/- per semester excluding examination fees & other fees payable to the University. Additionally, the deposit of Rs. 10,000/- shall be paid, out of which Rs. 5000/- will be refunded at the end of the course.
