NTSE Scholarship Exam Application Form 2018 – For Class-X: National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will conduct State Level National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) in coordination with states for students studying in Class X. The National Talent Search Examination for students studying in Class X is meant to identify the natural talent. The examination is conducted every year at two levels – Stage-I (State Level) and Stage-II (National Level). Eligible candidates may apply online for NTSE Scholarship Exam 2018 through Scholarship portal https://scholarships.wbsed.gov.in from 01.08.2017 to 31.08.2017. National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) Application Form 2018
In order to identify and nature the talented students, NCERT has been conducting National Talent Search Examination since the year 1963. Under this scheme, 1000 talented students are identified through two tier National Talent Search Examination. The examination is conducted every year at two levels – Stage-I (State Level) and Stage-II (National Level).

Eligibility For NTSE Scholarship Exam 2018

1. Students of class X of any affiliated and recognized school under W.B.B.S.E./ W.B.B.M.E./I.C.S.E./C.B.S.E in West Bengal securing 50% and above marks (40% and above marks for S.C/S.T/Physically Disabled Candidates) in the final examination of class IX are eligible to appear at State level NTSE, 2018.
2. Students who have registered under Open Distance Learning (ODL) under NIOS / West Bengal Council of Rabindra Open Schooling and secured 50% and above marks in the pre-10th level examination (40% and above marks for SC/ST/Physically Disabled Candidates) will also be eligible to appear at the examination provided the student is below the age of 18 years (as on 1st July 2017).

NTSE Selection Process
Stage-I, selection will be done by States/UTs and those who qualify Stage-I will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT.

Qualifying Marks: Qualifying marks for candidates from General Category is 40% in each paper and for candidates from SC, ST and PH is 32% in each paper.

Language Test: Qualifying in nature and marks obtained for Language Test will not be counted for final merit.

NTSE Examination Pattern 2018
The tentative pattern of written examination will be as follows:
Stage-I & II: Examination at the State/UT level will comprise of three papers

At Stage-II: (National Level), there will be negative marking in each paper. For each wrong answer, 1/3 marks will be deducted. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.

NTSE Scholarship Amount
About one thousand scholarships are awarded for different stages of education as follows:
(a) Scholarship of Rs.1250/- per month for Class – XI to XII
(b) Scholarship of Rs.2000/- per month for Undergraduates and Post-graduates.
(c) Amount of Scholarship for Ph.D. is fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.

NTSE Reservation of Seats
Reservation of seats will be 15% for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% for students belonging to the ST category and 4% for Physically Challenged Group of Students.

Fees of NTSE Scholarship Exam
States and Union Territories may notify the fee required which will be paid for the Stage-I examination. Therefore, before submitting the application form, candidates may find out the fees charged for Stage-I Examination and also the mode of payment from the respective State Liaison Officers (LOs). NCERT does not charge any fee for Stage-II examination.

Indian Students Studying Abroad
Indian Students Studying Abroad in Class X can appear directly for Stage-II NTS Examination under conditions prescribed in the NTS brochure which is available on the NCERT website. Candidates may fill up the Application Form, available on the NCERT website and send to the undersigned along with a photocopy of the mark sheet of the previous examination before the date. NTSE Application Form for students studying abroad will be uploaded by October 2017.
